A name that says
what we're looking for.
find my kindred: find your kindred spirit. In English, a "kindred spirit" is someone who sees the world the way you do. Not identical, but kin. Someone who makes you feel: this person gets me.
We didn't pick this name by chance. find my kindred is about finding the people you connect with on a deeper level. Not surface-level alignment, but real connection.
Why this works
This isn't a hunch. Decades of relationship research back it up (Luo & Klohnen, 2005): what keeps relationships happy long-term is mostly shared values and a similar way of seeing the world.
At the same time, we don't want someone exactly like us. We're looking for people who open up new perspectives, so we grow together rather than drift apart.
Why a photo isn't enough
We've all been there: someone looks great in photos, but in person something's missing. The chemistry isn't there. Research on attractiveness shows why (Eastwick & Finkel, 2008): what we judge from photos says surprisingly little about whether things will spark in real life.
What actually matters? Personality. Humor. The way someone talks about the things that really matter. That's what we want to make visible, before the first photo decides.
kindred is more than an algorithm.
It's an invitation.
An invitation to be curious. Not for the perfect photo, but for the real story. And then to see who actually fits.
